Parents & Grandparents Sponsorship Program
This program allows eligible individuals to sponsor their parents or grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada, fostering family reunification.
Eligibility Criteria
To sponsor your parents or grandparents, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement, typically 30% above the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO), based on family size.
- Sign an undertaking to financially support the sponsored individuals for 20 years, ensuring they do not require social assistance.


Sponsorship Process
- Submit Interest to Sponsor Form: Complete this online form during the designated intake period announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Receive Invitation to Apply: If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to submit a complete application.
- Application Submission: Provide all required documents, including proof of income, relationship, and other supporting materials.
- Application Processing: IRCC will assess your eligibility and the admissibility of your parents or grandparents.
- Decision and Arrival: Upon approval, your parents or grandparents can travel to Canada and obtain permanent resident status.
